Planned Maintenance

We are planning on taking ALL simulators into READ ONLY mode later today, this is due to us finding an issue with how our data center partitioned our hard drives. We will be moving databases data into a much larger partition. We are starting to hit the partition cap of the directory the files are in now. The estimated time to move this data is unknown, so we are going to moving everyone to READ ONLY. This mean your regions will remain online, and people will be able to access them, however your region will be unable to save any updates you add to it.

Please understand that we MUST do this in order for service to continue, as we are hitting the max size of our current partition that database data is saved in. This is a problem as we have tons of hard disk space left, so we are going to be moving it to another partition where it can take advantage of our several Terabytes of storage.

Thank You,
Timothy Francis Rogers

Upgrades to 0.7.6 Release (Resolved)

[Resolved 10:43 EDT] All upgrades that were planned for today are officially completed!

[UPDATE 10:34 EDT] All standalone clients have been updated successfully.

[START 9:19 EDT] Zetamex is starting the upgrade of all clients to 0.7.6 Release at 10:00 EDT, this will effect all Standalone, Grid, and Custom clients. Please be aware, the downtime expected starting at 10:00 EDT is 2 minutes per simulator. Service will not be down longer than 2 minutes per simulator you have, keeping your uptime at highest possible standards.

Datacenter Fiber Line Failure (Resolved)

[Resolved 16:56 EDT] Our Datacenter’s ISP has informed us that the repair of the fiber line has been made, that services will start to see the difference here over the next hour or so as traffic in the datacenter flows back into proper channels.

[Update 14:35 EDT] We have received the following update from our datacenter’s ISP “Estimated time of return 6.00pm (EDT)”

[Update 13:00 EDT] We are somewhat happy to announce we are back up and running our our Datacenter’s backup lines, service will not be as fast till everything is completely restored. Do expect some packet loss, but our datacenter is doing everything they can to assist in the packet loss. Our datacenter is pushing all their server through one ISP when it is normally distributed between 3 ISPs. The one ISP can take the hit, why they have 3 and not just one. However pushing so much data through one pipe causes major overhead slowing down data for everyone. The good news is the other ISPs are resolving their issue right now and everything should be back to normal automatically very soon. We also want to thank Google for providing us with a Public DNS resolving service, which is why we are able to continue providing you with service during this time.

[Update 12:06 EDT] We are successfully rerouting traffic, please be aware that we are restoring service using our Datacenter’s backbone network, this network is designed in case of an incident of this nature to keep data flow operational. Thanks to Google’s free Public DNS system we are bypassing our datacenter’s overloaded system for resolving hostnames. The backbone network may have high ping times, however is operational. The high ping times are due to all traffic is having to be rerouted through these backup lines, where normally traffic is split among 3 ISP(Internet Service Providers). Please bare with us as we continue to restore service over the backbone network.

[Update 11:52 EDT] Our Datacenter has informed us that their backbone network is still operational but is taking a huge hit. Their name resolving servers are overloaded due to massive overload on their backbone network. We are attempting to bypass our datacenters name service, and using Google’s public main service and restore service on a slightly degraded level until their ISP repairs the ripped line. This way service can still continue. Please stay tuned for more updates!

[Update 11:39 EDT] Rip was find in fiber line at “Boulevard Monseigneur bridge in QB, Canada. A team from the ISP that serves this line has already been dispatched and is in process of repair”

[first]We have just called and spoken with our datacenter, it turns out our sluggish issue is not result of our system. Our data center located in Canada is suffering from a Fiber line outage, they are running on backup fiber lines as we speak till the issue is resolved. That being said, several packets are failing and are causing a major service interruption for all of our clients at the moment as well as all of our data center’s clients. Our servers are up and running, they are working really hard with the Fiber company to restore service. Speaking with a rep from the datacenter they hope to have the issue fully resolved shortly.

For more news and updates on this please follow our blog at

Again, we are very sorry but there is nothing we can do during this outage other than prepare services for restart as soon as the fiber line is restored.

Thank You all for understanding.

From Demand to Heavily Requested

It has been quite crazy lately here at Zetamex, tons of clients buying out our dedicated servers and our data center has been having trouble keeping up with our orders, increasing our 12 hours for render time up to 72 hours sometimes. However we are now using cloud services to hold our clients over till their dedicated services are online; this way we can get people in and working back in our 24 hour window. Out data centers we work with have been restocking servers weekly, but with all these orders coming in across the USA and Canada, they have had their hands full. But they are a world wide data center with locations in 16 countries, so they are defiantly not twiddling their thumbs; they have been keeping on the ball not letting stock get too low.
So what does all that mean for you, why did I tell you all that? Because the data center has practically tripled in size in less than a month, which is awesome for them, and because they have noticed such a demand in North America they have been building new server plans, so that is where I am bringing this up to you, because now we are changing out server plans because they are doing this to us. Now people already with servers, we are locked in at our rates and with our configurations. But here is our new dedicated server line up.

New Dedicated Lineup

Silver ($90usd/month):2 cores with 4 threads, 8 GB of ram, and 1 TB hard drives running in RAID to protect your data if one of the drives crash.
Gold ($120usd/month):4 cores with 4 threads, 8 GB of ram, and 1 TB hard drives running in RAID to protect your data if one of the drives crash.
Platinum ($200usd/month):4 cores with 8 threads, 32 GB of ram, and 2 TB hard drives running in RAID to protect your data if one of the drives crash, with  new 200Mbps speed unmetered!
To break down what these servers are capable in terms of simulators and regions:
Silver: 6-10 Simulators (you can run multiple regions per simulator) depending on configuration you can fit several regions as long as your simulators are not high traffic.
Gold: 8-12 Simulators (you can run multiple regions per simulator) depending on configuration you can fit several regions as with good standing on traffic and script usage with the extra cores to take the hit.
Platinum: 29-36 Simulators (you can run multiple regions per simulator) depending on configuration you can fit several regions on this server and not have performance be tied down, the threading of the Xenon core processors can intelligently handle when a couple regions break over normal CPU usage and keep other people unaffected by the CPU leak till a staff member is alerted to restart the simulator. These are the servers we recommend to clients who want to host several regions for several clients.

Affiliate & Referral Sales

There has been quite a very high request for this lately, so I am launching today the first official affiliate sales system for Zetamex. Now I wanted to make this fair for our customers and for people who just wish to resell our services.
Affiliate Sales:You can sign up to resell our services and earn 15% of all sells and 10% reoccurring, that is right, we said reoccurring. For the life of that client with us, so you can keep earning money from us for all the clients you refer. This does have a 25usd cash out thresh hold, and then the PayPal fees do apply to your payment.
Referral Sales:We have many clients who refer people to our services all the time, so we thought how to reward them. The 5% off for each referral program, where for every client you refer will we lower your price by 5% till you; get to the max of 25% off one of your services that are reoccurring for the life of the referrals with us. If you have multiple services with us, we apply it to the cheapest service, and only up to two services can be saved on.
So how do you sign up? Well good news for the referral guys, if you are client just tell them to put your name in the comments saying “blah blah referred me!” so that we can apply the credit properly. For our affiliate customers, you can do this by clicking this link here and our automated billing system will give you a special link to give to people that plants a cookie when then click it to tell our billing system to credit you for that sell.

As always, we encourage all you to email us at support[at] if you have any issues, comments, or questions.

News on Grid-Press

So as many of you may have noticed, our blog has been pretty quiet lately. This is because we have been making a lot of innovative creations in the back end of things. We were also dealing with a big deal of new customers, and we are very excited to share some news with you guys. We are going to be covering some changes we are going through these next two weeks.

That is right, we have been rehauling the old Grid-Press site and it is almost finished. But this time we are changing it up a little bit this next release. We thought Hypergrid Business was doing a good job, however we noticed it is still missing the focus on actual grids and articles by regular residents. Now we know there are tons of bloggers already who do this stuff, but we want to contribute back, so we are going to be offering a crediting system.
The new Grid-Press site will have the fallowing new categories: News, Grid Voice, Opinion, Explorations. We are going to be focusing on getting people to see what is in this mass virtual metaverse. We are also going to be rewarding people who want to be dedicated writers for Grid-Press money via PayPal. Not a whole lot of money, but when you get up to 5 USD you can cash out. Most articles will be 0 to 2 USD, however we will pay out monthly based on articles that have the most traffic and most actively commented on.
News (0 – 1.50): Articles about news affecting the opensimulator code, virtual worlds, hypergrid and related.
Grid Voice (FREE): This is for grids to publish news about what is going on in their worlds, new features, etc.
Opinion (0 – 1): These articles are for people to give their opinion on different grids, reviews of grids, giving critical reviews on things in the metaverse. No bullying or defaming of people or companies will be allowed, all opinions must be appropriate.
Explorations (0-1): Show off regions and grids you never explored, or you find and think need to be shown off to people.
If you are interested in becoming a writer for the new Grid-Press, due to launch this weekend, please contact us at support[at] with the fallowing information: Name, You know how to use WordPress, Use images with proper permission or taken yourself for articles, Why you should be a Grid-Press author. We will be selecting only a few people, and be announcing them on the grand re-opening of Grid-Press.
Stay tuned for Zetaworlds news as it will be coming out in the next day or two!
